I awoke in the Midsummer not to call night,
in the white and the walk of the morning:
The moon, dwindled and thinned to the fringe
of a finger-nail held to the candle,
Or paring of paradisaïcal fruit,
lovely in waning but lustreless,
Stepped from the stool, drew back from the barrow,
of dark Maenefa the mountain;
A cusp still clasped him, a fluke yet fanged him,
entangled him, not quit utterly.
This was the prized, the desirable sight,
unsought, presented so easily,
Parted me leaf and leaf, divided me,
eyelid and eyelid of slumber.
– Gerard Manley Hopkins, ‘Moonrise June 19 1876’
There is something so engrossing about the moon. Ever present, it inspires awe even when we aren't looking for it. I designed the Luna with the moon in mind, creating a top that's simple to the eye but bewitching in its details. A wrap top with a simple construction is a sight that presents itself so easily, but Luna's flared hem and ruffled sleeves are what parts one leaf and leaf.

This top is made of ramie woven in Japan. A natural fiber deriving from a plant in the nettle family, ramie is one of the oldest known fibers used in the world and shares many characteristics with flax — both are coarse yet elegant, sturdy yet wrinkly, breathable and naturally anti-microbial — but is a bit more coarse and rustic. Ramie fabric has a similar roughness on the skin as linen does, so I wouldn't recommend it to those who have skin sensitivities to coarser fibers; however, for those who do not, ramie, like hemp or linen, gets softer and more lustrous each time you wash it. The color of the fabric is a rich, golden mustard brown, reminiscent of a bosc pear.
In addition to the fabric, this top uses cotton thread and cotton garment labels.
Take a look at our Size Guide to find your size.
The Luna is fitted in the bust and the waist, so use both your bust and waist measurements when determining your size. If you fall in between sizes, I recommend going with the size closest corresponding to your bust measurement, sizing up if you'd like a bit more coverage and sizing down if you'd like to show bit more skin.
Alyssa is wearing a size 4 and is 5'8" with a 35" bust, 27" waist, and 37" hip.
